Ep 1: Intro & My Journey From Survival Mode to Clinical Naturopath
I’m so excited to officially welcome you to:
The Nature & Nurture Podcast.
In Episode 1, I introduce myself, share a bit of my story, and explain why this podcast has been something I’ve dreamed about creating for a long time. After two years of thinking, planning, doubting, and quietly hoping, it feels incredibly special to finally press publish and invite you into this space.
This podcast is all about supporting healthy kids and calmer parents with simple, realistic strategies that actually fit into everyday family life. No perfection, no overwhelm, just practical, evidence-based support that helps families feel more confident in their health choices.
Who this podcast is for
If you’re a parent who has:
stood in front of the chemist shelf feeling completely overwhelmed
Googled symptoms at 2am and ended up more confused than before
had that quiet gut feeling that there has to be a better way
… then you’re exactly who this podcast is for.
A little about me
I’m a mum of four, with kids now aged from their mid-teens to early twenties, and they could not be more different if they tried! Each of them has taught me something unique about health, resilience, and supporting individual needs. One of my twins had a milk protein intolerance, and the other we believe may be on the autism spectrum. Parenting them has shaped so much of how I practise today.
When my kids were little, I didn’t know anything about natural health. I was in full survival mode. If they were sick, we went straight to the GP and the chemist, because that’s all I knew. My own health slowly declined, and I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and guessing my way through parenting with the information I had at the time.
I don’t judge that version of myself, but I do wish she’d had more support. That’s a big part of why I do what I do now.
From survival mode to naturopathy
Before becoming a Clinical Naturopath, I worked in nursing, medical sales, pharmacy, and optics. It was during my time in pharmacy that something really shifted. I saw people taking handfuls of medications, often unsure what they were even for, and then needing more medications to manage the side effects.
Around the same time, I was sidelined by chronic foot pain and ended up at home in a moon boot, forced to slow down. That pause gave me space to rethink everything, and that’s when I made the (slightly impulsive!) leap into studying naturopathy. From the very first class, I knew I’d found my place.
