Ep 5: Rethinking New Year’s Resolutions ~ A Kinder Way to Set Health Goals

New Year’s resolutions often start with good intentions, but for many people, especially parents, they quickly turn into pressure, guilt, and overwhelm.

In Episode 5 of The Nature & Nurture Podcast, I talk about a gentler, more sustainable ways to approach health goals. That do not require a complete life overhaul or starting on January 1st, and that actually respects your energy, capacity, and season of life.

We explore why January can be a tough time to make big changes, particularly after the chaos of Christmas, disrupted routines, and broken sleep. I also share why I’ve personally waited until the kids are back at school in the past before focusing on my own intentions, and why that’s not failure, it’s realism.

This episode dives into why trying to change everything at once often backfires, how stress and nervous system overload can sabotage even the best goals, and why supporting your nervous system first makes all other changes easier.

We also talk about setting seasonal goals, focusing on one thing at a time, and building in regular check-ins to reflect, adjust, and reassess. Because goals are allowed to change, and so are you!

Most importantly, this episode gives permission. Permission to start later. Permission to go slower. Permission to fail, reflect, and try again.
